Ice Bear, is a solo presentation of recent paintings by Taungurung country based artist, Fergus Binns.
'Like a bowerbird, Binns scourers images for the perfect object to display. A poetry of paint, motif and symbolism his work is in the details. In the mental anguish and conflict before paint touches the surface. He gestures with a bird-like twitch, flattening broad strokes against pinpoint realism.
Binns' work is both fragile and disarming. Absorbing and filtering the world to produce something as raw, precise and flamboyant as a bowerbird's offering. Powerful and dynamic the viewer is challenged to feel uncomfortable in the grotesque and beautiful.'
